As I watch Merchants of Cool and try to tick things off my todo list,
I decided to write the email about what were are doing this next 8
weeks or so. I love public radio and TV. Does that make me a flaming
liberal? Why are the criticisms so often more incisive and
insightful. I digress.

In an effort to allow the Spirit of Christ to address our whole
person, we are venturing off into the oft-forgotten topic of Christian
emotions. Our group in particular does a good job of addressing the
mind of man with God's word. Our church and religious culture in
general seeks to address the moral actions of man. The last aspect is
what Richard Pratt called Orthopathy.

For the next eight weeks, we will be studying the book Feel:the power
of listening to your heart. I will be making copies of a study
guide. You will need to purchase the book. You will need to read the
chapters for the week ahead of time. On Fridays, we will talk about
the reading, associated scriptures, and our own reactions.

Now watching "The Persuaders" about marketing in culture. They are
talking about emotional reactions to eating white bread. They are
talking about the unconscious aspects of our shopping habits. Perhaps
this is a an argument for this study. If we ignore what our emotions
are telling us about God, the world, and ourselves we are influenced
by them without them being held captive to Christ.

Our first reading assignment is chapters 01:Feel and 02:Discovery.
You can buy the book at most online bookstores. You can get it at
Amazon. If you use the link, I get a cut. At least I think so, I
have never actually "sold" a book with this associate program. I know
I am a sell-out. Don't buy it at Amazon if you can find it cheaper
elsewhere or if it makes you feel used.

Tonight we had a pray night connecting with each other in prayer for
each other. We will see you Sunday.

Peace,
Heath
